The Cambron CamLite III is one of those inventions that seem quite obvious after we see it. When you look at a hairpin with wavy sides you say "Of course!" But it took a genius to think of it. Well, the CamLite III is in the same category. Once you see it
you say Of course! But it did take a genius to invent it.
The Cambron CamLite III looks just like a regular flash unit. In fact, one of its functions is that of an electronic flash, a "strobe." You attach it to your camera with a specially designed b
racket and use it conventionally. This is where most "strobes" end but it's just the beginning of the Cambron CamLite III! Even this "conventional" use has three functions! Used with a camera which does not have a built-in flash, it serves as the main li
ght source in dim light. Used with a camera with a low-power built-in flash it serves as a booster light, extending the flash range. Used with a camera with an adequate built-in flash it serves as a fill-in light source, when the main subject needs some e
xtra illumination to bring it up to the same light level as the rest of the scene.
When you shoot indoors, your problems are different. Point an ordinary flash or a booster flash at your subject and you get washed-out features. More problems: Red-Eye.
Ugly shadows on the wall behind your subject. Uninteresting front lighting which makes your subject flatfaced. The Cambron CamLite III solves all these problems with its calibrated up-down-angle light head, sometimes referred to as "bounce light." Yes, t
here are other flash units with a bounce head but most of them have a very limited angle of positioning and very few have clearly marked angular indicators. The Cambron CamLite III starts out with a level position and goes all the way to straight up with
any desired angle in between. You have to use the unit to appreciate its versatility. But we haven't even mentioned its really unique use: Wireless Flash Synch Photography (WFSP).
Now comes the amazing part: All the above features will also function,
flawlessly, in the WFSP mode. Plus: the Cambron CamLite III will give you all the advant- ages of a flash sensor which triggers the secondary flash, regardless whether it is attached to the camera or used "remote". In the WFSP mode you have studio lighti
ng without cables or wires. The CamLite III synchronizes with your camera flash, The remote will act as a modeling light, a remote fill-in, a bounce-light or, if your camera flash is weak, as the main light source. You are in command. If you want to get a
