Planar 80mm lens
At f/2 the Planar 80mm lens is the fastest lens in the Contax 645 system. There is no faster Planar lens in medium format photography available anywhere! Even at full aperture the performance of the Planar 80mm lens is so high that ropfessional quality images are reached. This lens design is especially beneficial in the Contax 645, which provides for quick and accurate focusing, where manual focusing would have been too slow or not accurate enough for f/2.
The Planar 80mm lens is the ideal tool for handheld photography with decent shutter speeds at low light levels, in people photography indoors, celebrity portraits, wedding coverage and similarly demanding tasks.
With its focal length of 80mm, the Planar lens records an image with a perspective (size relationship between foreground and background) that is roughly equivalent to the way we see a scene with our eyes, similar to a fast 55 mm lens on a 35 mm SLR. Therefore this lens is suited for almost any task in general photography making it a powerful and versatile standard lens in the Contax 645 system.
Standard MFB-1 Film Back
The Standard MFB-1 Film Back accomodates the 120/220 standard switchable Film Insert or the MFB-1B 220 Vacuum Insert. The back has a pocket for storage of the Dark Slide and a Memo Holder for storing film type or other notes.
AE Prism Finder
The AE Prism Finder offers the photographer the creative flexibility of switching between Center Weighted Average Metering or Spot Metering.The Prism Finder is also equipped with a quick shoe adapter, built-in diopter correction, and eyepiece shutter.
