Gossen Starlight Meter | $448.95 | | |
The Starlite is Gossens All in One Top of the Line light meter offering unrivaled capabilities and multiple functions. Three individual meters are specially incorporated into this one precision-measuring instrument:
1. An exposure meter for ambient and flash
2. A CINE meter for filming
3. A light measuring instrument for illumination intensities and luminances
This all-in-one meter provides a complete package of features for standard and those special requirements of the photographer, in the studio or on location. A durable water- resistant housing protects the meter safely in inclement weather or risky situations. Attract- ively styled, this meter is comfortable in shape and size to hold and operate. The simple operating controls, which are logically positioned, making the meter easy to under- stand and use both for the experienced professional and the dedicated amateur.
A remarkable advantage is the rotary measuring swivel head, a multiple function optical center. The rotary ring at the base of the diffuser can be set at four different modes.
Reflected light measurement of a 1 degree angle through the viewfinder
Quick selection at the ring enables meter to alternate to a 5 degree angle
Incident light measurement: with raised diffuser = spherical characteristics
Incident light measurement: with lowered diffuser = flat plane charateristics
Consequently, the Starlite offers unparalleled versatility of measuring capabilities, including the Zone System. Flash measurements are automatically selected for cord or non-cord functions. For cord flash measurements a flash sync terminal is conveniently placed on the meter front. Optional radio controlled triggering is a highly practical feature for the professional. In addition, a multiple flash mode is incorporated for evaluating and calculating up to 9 flashes.
The pre-selected data and the measuring results are indicated in the large and easy to read display. Functions not currently selected are not visible, eliminating false interpretations or misunderstandings on the display. Four DIP switches in the battery compartment are pro vided to select the desired function group:
Selection of still photography, CINE filming or photometric functions
Selection of the full shutter speed values or alternatively the half step values. Also input of additional speeds for CINE.
Selection of the various photometric measuring units
Selection of the Zone System measuring functions
All measuring methods are available
Shutter speed priority the corresponding f/stop aperture will be displayed
F/stop aperture priority the correspon- ding shutter speed will be displayed
Exposure value/EV can be directly used with certain MF lenses
Contrast measurements the brightness range of the subject is determined
Averaging the average value of up to nine single measurements can be calculated and shown in the display
Zone System measurements areas of different brightness are assigned to graduated Zones of gray
The Starlite meter for CINE Filming and Photometry By using the corresponding DIP switch, the Starlite can be converted easily and quickly into a fully functional, comprehensive CINE meter for Movie Filmers. For those photographers who need a competitive edge, a preset shutter angle of 180° can be adjusted in 10 step increments. The Starlite is remarkably well equipped for precise photometric measurements of light intensities, illumination and luminance in ambient light or flash modes. The metering results are indicated in the display in LUX, Footcandle, cd/m2, Foodlambert, and more
