hs with XGA resolution and store them on a MultiMediaCard. You can switch between still or motion photography, or even shoot in both modes simultaneously, simply by turning the mode dial.
Turning the mode dial to XGA/VGA lets you use the GR-DVL9800 as a
digital still camera capable of capturing crystal-clear still images with resolution up to 1024 x 768 pixel (XGA). Recorded images are stored on a removable MultiMediaCard which is independent of the video recording system. A MultiMediaCard card stores u
p to 75 VGA stills (36 for XGA) in a space of the size of a postage stamp. A serial terminal also allows direct transfer of the stored data to a PC. At the same time, you can still take advantage of the camcorder's powerful 10x optical zoom capabilities,
giving you far more shooting versatility than you would get with a standalone digital camera.
Perhaps the most exciting and innovative application of digital technology is the GR-DVL9800's Dual Shooting mode. Just push the Snapshot button in the Dual
Mode and a still picture is recorded on the MultiMediaCard while you continue to record motion video on tape. As soon as vou press the Snapshot button half-way down, you'll see the still image you've captured in a Picture-in-Picture window in the LCD moni
tor. Pressing the button all the way stores the captured image.
