Kodak Advantix Preview | $264.95 | | |
If you are clinging to a good old photographic film camera because you can't be bothered with digital cameras, perhaps the Kodak Preview Advantix might pique your interest because it combines the old with the new.
The 9 oz (255 gram) camera is a tradi
tional film camera that takes a special easy-to-load film cassette. However, there are some interesting technologies that make it better than a traditional 35 mm camera. First off, there's a tiny color LCD screen on the back of the device that previews t
he image you just snapped onto film.
So your kids make pig faces just before you snap the shot? No problem you can see what the image looks like on the camera's 1.8 inch (diagonal) color screen. If you don't like the shot, simply use the camera contr
ols to mark zero prints on the film so the frame won't be processed when it goes to the photomat.
If you like the shot - perhaps your little darling looked angelic - and you want multiples, then you can mark the frame with a button push so that up to
nine copies will be produced during photo-finishing.
You can also pick the photo format. A button on the camera let's you choose from three options: including 4 x 6 inches, 4 x 7 inches and 4 x 11.5 inches.
Once the image information is recorded on t
he film you can't go back after subsequent shots.
One other flexible feature is the ability to pull the film canister out of the camera before it's done and swap it with another kind of film. You can then reload the original film later to finish the
roll.
This hybrid camera is quite an innovation and proves film-based cameras still have some life in them yet.
