Minolta DiMAGE 5 | $269.95 | | |
The state-of-the-art Minolta DiMAGE 5 produces highly detailed images at a resolution of 3.3 megapixels. The newly developed Minolta GT lens is designed to maximize the performance of the CCD, and with a maximum f2.8 aperture, the DiMAGE 5 can capture images in dim lighting conditions without the need for a flash. Add Minolta's CxProcess image processing technology which optimizes image sharpness and color balance, and your digital images will faithfully mirror your original impression of a scene.
With the 7x Optical Zoom Lens of the Minolta DiMAGE 5 (35mm equivalent of 35mm - 250mm), capturing everything from a tight close up to an expansive landscape image is easily attainable. The DiMAGE 5 also has macro capability allowing one to photograph objects as close as 10 inches from the lens. The Digital Hyper Viewfinder affords easy confirmation of many of the Camera functions, and the Digital Effect Control enables the user to adjust contrast, color saturation and exposure right on the camera.
The Precision 3-point Autofocus system covers an extremely wide focus area and the Flex Focus Point feature enables the user to switch from a wide focus area to a cross-hair focus point that can be moved to any position in the viewfinder. This feature is ideal for off center subjects or macro photography. The DiMAGE 5 also employs a Multi Segment Exposure Metering system, but still offers the more traditional Center Weighted, Average and Spot Metering systems. The DiMAGE 5 features a high performance built-in flash and works with several Minolta external flash systems as well
The DiMAGE 5 is bundled with the DiMAGE Image Viewer Utility. This software can display raw image data and combine it with the original camera settings or allow corrections and manipulations using the built-in functions. The raw data is processed with a 16-bit per channel color depth so that the fine tonal gradations are preserved. Photographers can also view and make corrections to JPEG and TIFF images. There are various correction tools to choose from: tone curve/histogram, brightness/contrast/color pallet, hue/saturation/lightness adjustments, and sharpness filters. Other handy functions include the Color Correction Job that saves correction settings so they may be applied to different images. With the Variation function, photographers can choose the best image from a series of automatically bracketed corrections. The Graphic User Interface is simple to use; it is based on the user-friendly Minolta film-scanner driver software. The unique sharpness correction method is easy and effective. The color matching is compatible with most color spaces. The ICC profiles can provide accurate color reproduction. The software also shows the date, focal length, and exposure used when the image was captured.
