Widelux Panoramic Model 1500 | $3499.50 | | |
In the last few years we have seen a great increase in panoramic picture fever. In reality, those cameras with built in panoramic features do nothing more than take a standard picture and in developing, crop the photograph and enlarge it to panoramic size. If you are looking for a true panoramic picture with a really wide angle, then the camera for you is from Widelux. Widelux now reintroduces the cameras it made famous with a new 35mm model – the Widelux F8. Widelux is also reproducing the Widelux 1500 for 2¼ film size. These cameras will give you approximately twice the angle of standard panoramic cameras.
The first Widelux camera appeared in 1948 – almost 50 years ago. With a half century experience, Widelux offers the best panoramic cameras in the world. With an F2.8 lens, the Widelux cameras are faster than any other panoramic camera at any price. The Widelux camera body is made of a light weight metal construction, and the Widelux size is the same as a standard 35mm camera. The 35mm Widelux F8 weighs only 30 ounces, and the 2¼ size Widelux Model 1500 weighs in at a mere 62 ounces. The 35mm Widelux F8 offers a 140° view while the Widelux Model 1500 has an outstanding 150° angle. With all Widelux cameras, you get a full view in the viewfinder and you see exactly what the Widelux camera gets, whereas on many other panoramic cameras you get only a partial view in the viewfinder. No focusing is needed with the high resolution F2.8 fixed focus lens on these Widelux cameras.

The Widelux F8’s use of 35mm film results in a 24mm x 59mm (1"x21/3") negative which can be enlarged by most 6 x 6 enlargers. The Widelux camera can also be used to take transparencies, which can be projected with any 6 x 6 projector when mounted in a Widelux Slide Mount.
The Widelux 35mm Camera evolved from the legendary Widelux cameras first introduced in 1948. Widelux cameras have proved their capability time and again during the Gemini 5 space exploration, Antarctic Expeditions, and Himalayan climbs among many other great achievements. Widelux was awarded best invention prize, and earned a permanent exhibition spot in the International Photography Museum in New York City.
